Hope has worked in the medium of glass for over 10 years. Initially working with a small table top kiln, her work area has blossomed into a rather substantial glass studio. Her studio now includes five kilns, a torch area, metal working/fabricating area and her cold-working area where she fabricates her beautiful prisms and faceted glass works of art.
Hope’s artwork has truly blossomed, subsequently her work has received accolades from associates, retail shop owners and clients alike. Each piece is individually handmade, no two pieces are alike. Specialty artwork includes dichroic glass blended with architectural glass cold-worked into 3D prisms and curves. Other works include glass art infused with pure silver and copper to create what is called “Reactions in Glass”. This is a process whereby specific glass and metals are fired together causing reaction to both the glass and metal. The end results are individual pieces that are truly works of art! Check out all of her available pieces at her Made by Hope store.
Hope’s artwork reflects a Southwest flare as seen in her cactus, bear, and coyote designs, as well as geckos and Hawaiian dolphins that add to her menagerie of animal art. She is continually adding to her skills with bowls, dishes, and glass flowers. Additional creative glass art for the home and outdoors will soon be on display.
Hopes positive, creative experience has been fueled in part as a cancer survivor. This experience has given Hope a new perspective, appreciation of life and it is reflected in the body of her work. Glass Cancer awareness ribbon pendants are always available at Made by Hope.
Hope has now added a new twist to her artwork. Kumihimo is a traditional Japanese braiding technique. Literal translation of Kumihimo is “gathered threads”. Using Kumihimo braiding skills with her glass art pieces has opened a new dimension of possibilities. All pieces created are one of a kind. Similar pieces may be created, but they will always be unique.
